How to identify it

  • Bedrock frog seat: the frog beds on a wide machined surface flush with the sides of the bed rather than on narrow pads.
  • 7 inch sole, 1-5/8 inch iron - the Bailey No. 2 dimensions in a Bedrock body.
  • Round-sided castings are pre-1911 and worth more than the later flat-sided ones.

Buying and using

Prices at this level attract fakes and marriages. Check that the frog, body and lever cap belong together before paying.

The same size from other makers

These do the same job at the same size. Parts do not interchange between makers, but the shaving does not know the difference - and where one maker commands a collector premium, another usually does not.
