History

The No. 80 cabinet scraper is the single most useful cheap Stanley tool still findable for pocket money, and the No. 112 scraper plane is what you reach for when figured timber tears out under any bench plane. Spokeshaves divide into flat-bottom (convex work) and round-bottom (concave work).

How to choose one

For the 80, the only thing that matters is that the sole is flat and the blade is not pitted at the edge. For spokeshaves, check the adjusters turn and the mouth is not cracked.
